Dental Fillings

A small fix now saves you from a bigger problem later — and it doesn’t have to be the experience you remember from childhood.

A cavity isn’t a failure. It’s one of the most common things Dr. Daniel Dafo sees — in kids, in adults, in people who brush twice a day. What matters is catching it while it’s still small enough to fix simply.

At Namu Dental Care, fillings are done with tooth-colored composite material that blends with your natural teeth. No metal. No dark spots every time you laugh. And for certain cavities, Dr. Dafo can use the Waterlase laser to prepare the tooth with little to no anesthetic — which means less numbness, less downtime, and a faster visit.

What a Filling Appointment Looks Like

Dr. Dafo walks you through what he sees before he picks up any instruments. You’ll know exactly where the cavity is, how deep it goes, and what needs to happen. He numbs the area thoroughly (if needed), removes the decay, and places the filling — all in one visit. Most fillings take less than an hour.

If you’re someone who gets anxious about dental work, nitrous oxide is available to help you relax through the process. Dr. Dafo doesn’t rush. He takes the time to make sure you’re comfortable, and he won’t start until you’re ready.

Same-Day Treatment When Possible

If Dr. Dafo spots a cavity during your cleaning and the schedule allows, he’ll offer to take care of it right then. No need to book another appointment, take another day off, or psych yourself up for a second visit. One trip. Done.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do tooth-colored fillings last as long as metal ones?

Modern composite fillings are durable and long-lasting, especially when placed carefully and maintained with regular checkups. Dr. Dafo selects materials based on where the cavity is and how much force that tooth absorbs.
  • Can you do fillings without a needle?

In some cases, yes. The Waterlase laser can prepare certain cavities without traditional anesthetic. Dr. Dafo will evaluate whether your cavity is a candidate and give you the option.
  • How do I know if I need a filling or a crown?

It depends on how much of the tooth is affected. If the decay is small and the tooth structure is strong, a filling is preferred. If the damage is more extensive, Dr. Dafo may recommend a crown. He’ll explain both options clearly.
