Dental Crowns
When a filling isn’t enough but the tooth is still worth saving, a crown gives it a second life.
Protecting What’s Still There
A crown isn’t about cosmetics (though it helps there too). It’s about protecting a tooth that’s been weakened — by decay, a crack, a large filling, or root canal treatment — so it can keep doing its job for years to come.
Dr. Daniel Dafo takes a conservative approach. If a filling can solve the problem, he’ll go with a filling. A crown is recommended when the remaining tooth structure needs reinforcement. He’ll show you exactly where the weakness is and explain why a crown makes sense.
What Getting a Crown Looks Like
The tooth is gently shaped to fit the crown. An impression or digital scan is taken, and a temporary crown is placed while your permanent one is custom-made. When it comes back, Dr. Dafo checks the fit, the bite, and the color — and cements it into place. Two visits, and you’re done.
